Jan Krützfeldt is a recognized expert in microRNA biology who gave invited lectures in the U.S. (Keystone, NY Academy of Science) and Europe (Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany). His work showed for the first time that microRNAs are therapeutic targets in animal models, which has recently been named one of the breakthrough discoveries in microRNA biology (Circ Res 2011;108:219-234). The work of JK has been recognized with a SNF-Professorship, the Young Independent Investigator Prize (SGED) and the Science Award of the Walter and Gertrud Siegenthaler Foundation (University of Zurich). JK`s publications have been cited 2`419 times; his h-index is 12 (Web of Science).
