Adriano Aguzzi focuses on the genetic manipulation of mice in vivo to study prion diseases. His major achievement has been the identification of the pathways by which prions reach the central nervous system. Aguzzi’s work has been recognized by the Marcel-Benoist Award, the Robert-Koch Award, InBev-Baillet Latour Health Prize,  three honorary doctorates (Liege, Bologna, Teramo), a NOMIS Distinguished Scientist Award and two ERC Advanced Grants.
